Shape the Next Generation of Athletes
Join our community of dedicated volunteers and become active in your child's volleyball learning curve. As someone who has been an active coach throughout their children's sport's journey, both as a baseball coach and volleyball coach, our Director can attest to the fact that you will bond more with your child while helping them on the court than simply sitting on the sidelines or just dropping them off. You don't have to be an expert...leave that to us! Just be there to run some fundamental drills and help the team to bond and develop friendships that will last a lifetime! Be an example of hard work and effort to both your players and your Assistant Coaches, so that they too can develop a desire to learn and continuously improve!
Support the Head Coaches and help run practices
The Head Coach needs your support not only during practices to run drills and keep the troops inline, but the load is always easier to carry when there are multiple people helping out! Sometimes it might be tossing balls during a drill or warmup, and sometimes it might be filling in when someone is away. This is a great way to get your feet wet within the coaching world while you begin to realize that it's not that hard...with support from other Assistant coaches, you too could one day help lead a team to victory! Like all Head Coaches, you too would have an opportunity to attend all weekly technical clinics and grow in your knowledge of proper volleyball positioning and skills development. Practice makes perfect!
Track Your Team's Gameplay and Statistics
Get up close and personal to the game by flipping the scorecards so that everyone on the sidelines knows how your team is doing. You can also help in another capacity...when not flipping scorecards, keep track of how your team players are doing by tracking their playing results. You can only get bettr if you see your results change. Coaches need to know what to work on collectively as a team, as well as help individual players that may be struggling with a particular skillset. Who is great at serving and who has issues? Who makes perfect passes and who shanks consistently? Are there issues on defense or offense? All of these questions can be answered through analylytics and you would be a valuable member of the team's growth and development!
Help the Players to Abide the Rules of Play
At Community Volleyball League, we strive to provide quality equipment, training and support. This includes referees that understand the rules of the game and help the gameplay to run smoothly and without incident. Mostly, this involves calling balls in or out and making note of players who have touched the net. Higher levels will have higher expectations of them, like double touch, carrying the ball, and line fouls. We try to run this role ourselves ourselves during the league games and employ more qualified referees when necessary for events like the league playoffs.
Help the Athlete's be Proud of their Achievements
Our goal is to help each athlete recognize their achievement of specific fundamental skills for each level, as well as certain higher levels of merit like teamwork, effort and commitment. By tracking these achievements based on the Coach's recommendations, the Coordinator plays a crucial role in building team success and player development. At the end of each season, both the players and their parents can see hoe each athlete has grown and improved. When combined together with the statistic tracking, it provides a combined growth chart of their development at their current level and gives them the tools to know exactly where they are strong and where there is room for improvement.
Organize the Team's Social Activities
Nothing says "Community" like a team that enjoys doing things together. Whether it's snacks after a game or a trip to DQ for a treat that rewards a team's hard work...teams that develop comradery and friendships outside of the game bond greater and work harder for each other on the court. As the Social Coordinator, it would not be your responsibility to bring the snacks or arrange the events, but rather to assign these duties throughout the team members so that everyonehas a chance to participate!
